500 MW Renewable Energy, Green Hydrogen & Ammonia Project in Senegal

Introduction

Senegal stands at a strategic turning point in its energy development. With exceptional solar and wind resources, the country has a unique opportunity to become a major player in the global energy transition. In this context, Global Green Hydrogen Inc. is preparing to develop a 500 MW renewable energy hub in three phases, dedicated to the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia.

This initiative is more than an energy project: it is a comprehensive platform for economic, industrial, and social transformation, with long-term impacts at the local, regional, and international levels.

1. Vision and Objectives

The central goal is to position Senegal as a regional and global hub for green hydrogen and ammonia.

• 500 MW installed capacity deployed in three progressive phases.

• Green hydrogen production through water electrolysis powered by renewable energy.

• Conversion to green ammonia (NH₃), a strategic molecule that is easier to transport and widely used in both agriculture and industry.

• Strategic positioning of Senegal as a clean energy supplier to Europe, the Americas, and beyond.

2. Development Phases

• Phase 1: 100 MW (Pilot and Demonstration)

Construction of the first solar and wind facility, integrated with the national grid. This phase will launch a pilot production of green hydrogen, build local technical expertise, and demonstrate the industrial feasibility of the project.

• Phase 2: Expansion to 200 MW

Significant increase in capacity with large-scale hydrogen output and the start of green ammonia conversion. This stage will address domestic demand (industry, transport) while preparing for initial exports.

• Phase 3: Full Capacity at 500 MW

Senegal becomes a major hub for renewable hydrogen and ammonia in West Africa, with large-scale production aimed at export markets in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

3. Strategic Impacts

a) Energy Impact

• Diversification of Senegal’s energy mix.

• Reduction of dependence on fossil fuels.

• Contribution to national and international carbon neutrality goals.

b) Economic Impact

• Creation of thousands of direct and indirect jobs in construction, operations, and maintenance.

• Development of new industrial value chains around hydrogen and ammonia.

• Attraction of foreign direct investment and enhanced national competitiveness.

c) Social Impact

• Strengthening of local skills through training programs for young professionals.

• Empowerment of communities with sustainable benefits and new opportunities.

• Inclusive development with positive impacts on infrastructure and local economies.

d) International Impact

• Contribution to Europe’s energy independence and global emission reductions.

• Positioning Senegal as a strategic partner in the global clean energy transition.

• Establishment of international partnerships with development banks, institutions, and global industry leaders.

Conclusion

Through this 500 MW project developed in three phases, Senegal has the historic opportunity to become a leader in Africa and worldwide in the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia.

Beyond energy, this initiative brings together:

• Technological innovation,

• Economic growth,

• Social development,

• International visibility and influence.

Global Green Hydrogen Inc. is committed to working hand in hand with the Government of Senegal, local stakeholders, and international investors to make this vision a reality. Together, we can build a clean, sustainable, and prosperous energy future for Senegal and for the world.
